Parish Nurse Ministry

Our parish nurses are registered nurses who have taken the Basic Preparation Course for Parish Nurses and use their skills in Health Ministry. Whereas most health disciplines are trained in one aspect of medical care, Parish Nurses are trained to nurture the whole person; mind, body and spirit. Our Parish Nurses work in partnership with our pastors, our internal church resources, local hospitals, social service agencies and the community.

Here are some of the services our parish nurse ministry provides:

• Blood pressure screenings the first Sunday of the month at 9:00 a.m. and after the second service (located in the Parish Nurse office inside the main office).
• Health information provided in our monthly newsletter, Trinity Tidings, and health literature provided at the Parish Health Center located in the Narthex.
• Confidential home visits or telephone calls to individuals with compromised health such as “shut-ins” or those recovering from recent illness, injury or hospitalization.
• Coordination of Health Education classes.
• Personal consultation for finding physicians, medication management and researching medical diagnoses.
• Referral to community resources including support groups, senior services, home health services, caregiver support, disability services, hospice, and other resources.
• Supervising American Red Cross Blood Drives at Trinity.

Parish Nursing is a ministry of the Board of Human Care and is under the supervision of Pastor Bruce Rumsch.
