What We Believe
Our Doctrinal Statement
- In an age of anxiety, when many are uncertain what the future may bring, we still believe that real peace comes through knowing Jesus Christ as our only Savior.
- In an age of confusion, when people no longer know to whom they can listen, we still believe that the Bible is the Word of God; inspired, inerrant and infallible and the perfect guide for all our beliefs and actions.
- In an age of pride, when many boast that man will soon create his own heaven on earth, we still believe that all people are sinful by nature and daily fail to do what God commands, and therefore need God's forgiveness.
- In an age of guilt, filled with people suffering form the knowledge of their personal failures, we still believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross to remove the power of sin, death and Satan, not only from the lives of people many centuries ago but from our lives today.
- In an age of fear, when the frightening possibilities of modern warfare are greater than ever, we still believe that Jesus Christ rose bodily from the grave to overcome our fear of death and to lead us to eternal life through faith in His perfect life and death.
- In an age of loneliness, a time when many people are talked at but few are listened to, we still believe that God acts personally through His Word and through Baptism and Holy Communion to communicate to us the forgiveness and strength we need.
- In an age of self-centeredness in which most people feel empty and unsatisfied, we still believe that the cross of Jesus Christ is the center of our lives that gives us meaning. And we pledge ourselves and all that we have to His service, that all the world may come to know Him and find eternal life and Joy.
