Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML)

LWML Logo

We are Lutheran Women in Mission!  We are women of Trinity congregation, along with all women of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, sharing Jesus’ love through mission mites and encouraging each other to have a close relationship with Him in our daily lives.

Do you know ...

  • All of the mites collected at Trinity go to our District. They keep 25% for District mission projects and send 75% to national for the national mission goal.
  • The national convention held in Portland, Oregon in June 2009 voted in a mission goal of $1,825,000 for the 2009-2011 biennium.  That’s a lot of mites!
  • Our Oregon District is just finishing up our mission goal for the 2008-2010 biennium of $58,000. That’s a lot of mites!
  • The mission projects supported at national and local levels fund programs across the world as well as here at home in the U.S. and in Oregon.

What does LWML look like here at Trinity?

We have an LWML Board – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Christian Growth and Circle Chairs – that meet regularly to keep things moving.  We currently have three Circles that meet monthly between September and June.  They are Agape, J.O.Y., and Monday Eves.  In our Circles we share fellowship, Bible study, and service in our congregation and in the community, and we support missions through giving of our time, talents and treasures.  Our passions include:

  • Lutheran World Relief – making quilts and putting school, health, sewing or layette kits together for the LWR Boxcar in May and October.
  • Supporting Trinity’s Christmas Basket program, Trinity Youth, and various other programs including Candlelighters, InterVarsity Campus Ministry, Quiet Waters, St. Child (formerly known as House of Ruth), and many others.
  • Encouraging the women of Trinity and providing opportunities for fellowship and spiritual growth through the annual Women’s Retreat, Fall Craft Day, Lunch & Laughter, and our monthly Circle gatherings.
  • Encouraging the congregation through serving receptions for funerals, weddings, anniversaries, Taste of Spring, Good Shepherd Auxiliary, etc.
  • Encouraging other LWML women outside of our congregation by participation in Zone and District retreats and conventions.

Why do we have LWML?

Because we have been called by Jesus to share His love to the world, and with more than 65 years of action behind them, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is an organized and effective blessing to the world.  Our hearts cannot help but respond to the call “whom shall I send” with “Here I am, send me!”

All women of Trinity are invited to our annual meeting on Sunday, May 2 following the 10:30 service.  We will have a potluck salad lunch hosted by the current LWML Board.  Part of our time together will be spent electing new officers for the next two year term.  Officers up for election are President, Vice-President (1 year), Secretary, and Christian Growth.

If you feel the call to serve, please contact Susan Lorenz  503.648.4571.
